The Role: Senior Engineer
Reporting to: Director of Projects
As a Senior Engineer, you’ll have a dynamic technical role and be primarily responsible for leading our technical support to our customers throughout the battery project lifecycle from development to commissioning. This enables our clients to make informed decisions and navigate the complex battery energy storage sector.
You will sit within Arenko’s close-knit Project Services team and work collaboratively with our Director of Projects, Project Engineers, Project Managers and Project Development Managers. The goal of this team is to accelerate our operational pipeline by developing new ready to build (RTB) projects and providing technical consultancy services to our clients to help reach financial investment decision (FID) and commercial operation date (COD).
The Project Services team also works closely with our software and trading teams to onboard and asset manage new route-to-market assets. The Senior Engineer role includes coordination, running and analysis of frequency response market pre-qualification tests.
The Role:
- Leading the technical aspects of developing a portfolio of transmission connected energy storage systems
- Liaison with National Grid Electricity Transmission and DNOs regarding existing connections and potential new development opportunities
- Review of EPC, ICP and LTSA proposals, contracts, design submissions and construction progress/quality
- Drafting of EPC, ICP and LTSA contractual schedules
- Supporting the onboarding and testing of new assets, including coordination and technical assessment of market prequalification tests
- Supporting the development of user requirements/specifications of asset management software
- Provide client facing reports on technical matters such as RFPs
- Managing our Project Engineers to deliver technical deliverables such as drawings, data analysis and design reviews
About You:
- Engineering degree, minimum 2:1 (ideally electrical, but relevant industry experience considered)
- At least 5 years’ of technical experience in the renewable energy & storage sector
- Experience in construction of utility scale renewable projects (ideally battery storage)
- Experience with managing and drafting EPC contracts
- Experience with performance assessment of renewable energy projects
- Experience managing a small team
Desirable skills:
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Experience with Python
- Knowledge of Grid Code, G99 and frequency response service requirements
